When trying to install this IE6 SP1 Security Update, when clicking at button
Install Now, there is no reaction. In WindowsUpdate.log I only find
"Downloaded iuident.cab from http. ... to ....", but no error indications.
Opsys is Win2000. All previous updates (dozens, both Win2K and IE)
worked fine. Any ideas are welcome.

Tim,

If you both have the same OS I suspect there was a typo.
W2K users only have WUv4 and therefore only have
Windows Update.log (Note the space in the file name.)
However, both logs exist in the Windows directory.

E.g. in a command window you would be able to find either
by entering:

cd /d %windir%
dir *update.log

Depending on what update(s) you are having problems with
there may be other diagnostics you can look at. For a general
procedure I suggest doing a find of all files changed on the date
that the update was attempted and then sort them by Date Modified.
That would show you all the other files written to within the few minutes
of the attempt. You can try dragging likely looking files to a Notepad
window to see if they are readable or not.

Good luck
