Anyone who has problem with KB891861?
I got big problem with terminal server after updating.
Winlogon.Exe takes continuesly more than 10% for each user.
After 6-8 users logged on the CPU reach 100%.

Happened here on a pair of Metaframe servers. We had two instances of
WINLOGON consuming 50% each!

Did you apply the patch via windows update or from the downloaded full file
version?

Same problem on a W2K.SP4/MetaFrameXP.FR3 and unable to open ICA
session: Winlogon at 50% and the session stay freezed.
Roolup applied via MS Update.
I will now make some test on VM server applying HF and Roolup via full
dowloaded packages and trying to identify the awfull HF crashing
Winlogon.

Yes,

I downloaded the new w2ksp4 rollup-1 for my old home machine
(running w2kpro on a 233mhz PII). It's maxing out my cpu at logon with
just 1 user. Can I uninstall it for now until this problem is resolved ?

Thanks,

I uninstalled the rollup, but the machine is still sluggish. Task Manager
still indicates high CPU utilization by kernal. I know the machine is
underpowered,
however it was O.K. previous to the update.

Note: the machine is clean of malware.
I scan with MS Antispyware (beta 1), Spybot S&D 1.4, CWShredder 3.14, and
Adaware SE daily. Memory installed is 384 Megs.

I hope to be able to run some new Transenders software which has a minimun
recomendation of a PII 400 Mhz/128 MB RAM.

Any tips on how to maximize CPU performance, or how to more closely
monitor kernal activity? The recent high CPU utilization, after the rollup
is stiil there even
after I uninstalled the rollup.

Many Thanks, Frank

We had the same problem that last weekend with our windows 2000 servers
running metaframe 3. Once we uninstalled the (KB891861)update we were
back in business. I would love to hear if Microsoft is going to address
this since there are so many individual patches included in this
rollup.

KB891861 makes my processor run hotter and, subsequently, the fans to run
faster. How can I remove it? I can't find KB891861 listed among my hotfix
update rollup programs.
