Hi, i have Japanese laptop it is Fujitsu U2010.
Online shop who sold it disappear Well, i have recovery disks with Vista
Home Premium Japanese version. I have English version installed. it has
japanese regional settings on it. Unfortunately shop disappear now. I m
trying to ask help from Fujitsu directly but should communicate in Japanese,
and i m not so well in it.
Problem is: just from a box, computer start doing updates and and updates
was disabled by updates. After all this updates finished I was unable to run
Control Panel -> Windows updates. Window was closing just after it appear. I
recovered system by windows system recovery. Install updates one by one until
i catch update that was blocking running update subsystem. Spent one day on
it. I disabled automatic updates and 1 update left not installed. I forget
about it for one month. Well few days ago i run updates, and found them
nonoperational again. Window of update interface appear, but no texts in it,
just one button without label. I tried to enable automatic updates, vista
said it was error, i need to enable it myself and show again window with one
not labeled button. I went to Services list and found wuauserv service
running, but listed without any proper name and description is <Failed to
Read Description, Error code 15100>. Then i click on it it show to messages
"Configuration Manager: A general internal error occured", "The resource
loader failed to find MUI file". Great! it cant be MUI on computer, because
it is not supported by Home Premium. So i have update service disabled. There
is no restore points for more than 3 days ago. Totally mixed, i seen some
people have similar mistake and was not solved. I think it happen then
installing updates on English version with not English regional settings. I
ve tried to do install KB942288, update for microsoft installer, but got
error:
Installer encountered an error: 0x80073afc The resource loader failed to
find MUI file. Can anyone help me reinstall update subsystem?
thank you

Actually i m so unhappy with performance of vista, now looking for a way to
legally UPgrade it to windows XP, more likely i need upupgrade to business
version to get right to UPgrade to XP. Sorry but i consider install XP as
upgrade. Was really happy with it 3 or 4 years. Also will try comunicate with
Fujitsu. As a last option use japanese version from recovery disk, well it
will help me learn Japanese quicker. Or install pirate version that will not
able to get updates as my vista now, but at least will run faster. Really
don't know what to do. Just waiting then new worm will kill my computer

If a Japanese-language version of Vista Home Premium is installed, you can
enable some English-language display options but you cannot be running an
English-language version of Vista.

If it was Vista Ultimate or Enterprise, you would be able to change it to an
English-language version.

That being said...

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB999999).
