Running IE 5.50 on Win 2000 Professional.
Have several times tried Windows Update to install IE Servce Pack 6.1. Have
also downloaded IE 6.0 from other sources.
When I try to install, there is always the message that a previous
installation has not been completed and that the computer needs to be
rebooted.
I have rebooted numerous times, and also cleared out the Uninstall folder in
Internet Explorer as had been suggested for other problems installing IE 6.0.
I'd appreciate any useful advice.
Thanks

Try here: Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1

Thanks for the link, but the same thing happened. I saved the file, rebooted,
and the exact message I receive is : "A previous installation has pending
work requiring a reboot. You need to restart your computer to complete that
installation before running IE setup. IE setup will now close."
I have tried this numerous times.
Can I erase IE5.50 completely and then install IE 6.0 ?

Please don't start a new thread. I found your reply only by chance.
You can't "erase" IE. Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer are vitually one-in-the-same.

Have you looked here?

Thanks so much.
The first link did the trick, I deleted a registry file, and was able to
download and install IE6.
I needed this so I could install Microsoft AntiSpyware which seems to be
doing a good job.
Really appreciate this assistance.
