Problem with viewing photos from Windows Media Player library

I am using Windows XP Media Edition and WMP11. All functions of the player
work normal except photos. The photos appear normal in the library but once
they are selected to view they become distorted. They show only as colorfull
vertical and horizontal lines. Not all pics do this only the ones that are
dscf or img numbered! Any help will be appreciated.
