problem with vista askin for a new product key

When i purchased my laptop from best buy, vista was already installed on it.
More than twice now, it has asked me to type in a new product key causing me
to have to reboot my computer erasing all of my previous storage. Ca somebody
tell me why? I was told that it may be the cause of the automatic update but
im unsure.

You need to contact the manufacturer of the system about this. The Windows
Product Key should not be erasing your personal data.
