Problem with Windows Live Installer

I wanted to install Windows Live Messenger in my Vista, but it drove into an
installer for all Live products. I chose the ones I liked and waited, but
the installation is full of problems.

1. The installer unknowingly modifies Windows Update to update all Microsft
Products, and suddenly tries to download a 120MB update for Office. (I have
deactivated this)
2. The installer spends over 8 min. "searching for other Live products in
your computer", although there are none.
3. Up until now, the installer has been 10 min. saying "99% downloading" in
Messenger

Anyone knows what's happening? Things used to be easier!

The Installer has a whole list of known issues, including some of which you've mentioned.

Generally, people don't like it very much, myself included.

I tried your installer and got a network error and it shut down. An
suggestions. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium
