problem with windows update solved!

hi everybody that tried to help and others,

problem solved. i reconfigured the adls/router/gateway and the
tcp/ip-settings on my client (an acer notebook). i switched off
the dhcp-server and configured fixed addresses for client and
gateway. i also configured the dns-servers of the adsl-provider
directly in the client tcp-ip-settings.

but it stays weird. it might have to do with a firmware-upgrade
on the adsl/router/gateway i did some time ago. it stayed
undetected for quite some time, because other sites i visit
regularly worked fine. only download.microsoft.com now recently
gave trouble.

Well I can download but I can not install the updates. I have clened,
redownloaded, reinstall, but no luck so far. Impossible. This happens from
this week on when I receive an update for the Messenger (which is not working
at the moment).
I just accompany the log file to help Microsoft people in giving a answer.

This error 0x80070003 suggests that the %ALLUSERSPROFILE% does not exist.
Try this:
1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type %SystemDrive%
4. Press the <Enter> key, or click OK
5. Double-click on "Documents and Settings" (please ignore quotes here)
6. Look for a folder that says "All Users" (again, please ignore quotes)
7. If no folder exists, create one:
a. Click File
b. Click New
c. Click Folder. A new folder will be created and its name is
highlighted, waiting for replacement.
d. Type: All Users (remember the space) and press the <Enter> key.
Ensure the name of the folder is All Users.
e. Skip directly to step BUGBUG
8. If the folder exists, we need to look at the environment variables.
9. Click Start
10. Click Run
11. Type cmd <Enter> (this means press the <Enter> key, not type out the
word)
12. In the Command Prompt, type: set a <Enter>, and this will display a list
of variables beginning with the letter a.
13. Look for a line that begins with ALLUSERSPROFILE=
14. If it exists, move to step BUGBUG.
15. If it does not exist, perform the following steps:
a. Still in the command window, copy and paste the following, then
press <Enter>:
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList" /v AllUsersProfile /t REG_SZ /d "All Users"
b. Verify it successfully added the key, or confirm that the existing
key was overwritten.
16. Shutdown and restart the computer.
17. Try Windows Update again.
