Go to internet explorer >tools>Manage Add-Ons and make sure that
"WUWebControlClass" is set to *Enable*.
Re-register the following dll's by typing these commands in start>run
net stop cryptsvc
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

rename catroot2 folder from c:\windows\system32
restart the cryptographice service from services.msc in run window

Test out windows updates again
