An employee used the automatic updates option 4/18/05 and installed the
following:
KB842773
KB893803
KB893086
KB890859
KB893066
DB890923

The KB893803 (MS window Installer 3.1) creates a problem for McAfee download
scan. We get a error webscan.exe and the download scan will not enable.

We determined that we have to uninstall all the new updates and reinstall
the updates excluding the KB893803 update.

It was successful for one employee, but this is the problem I am having for
this employee.

1. When we uninstalled the above updates received an error (did not write
down) on all of them and they are no longer displayed in the add/remove
programs.
2. When we do a scan to check available updates the updates are not showing
as needed, however they are no longer there?
3. Still receiving the McAfee webscan.exe error.
4. Tried to manual load the fixes, found them on the Microsoft site.
Can see that they were loaded in the event viewer, but go to add/remove
programs and they are not listed?

Help, can not figure out how to fix this problem. It appears the computer
thinks they are there but I can not see them. Tried to search and can not
find them in the registry? Anyone else have this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Removing a Hotfix if Add/Remove doesn’t work:-

1. Close any Open Windows or Programs
2. Click Start, select Run
3. Type or copy the following: %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallKB842773$\spuninst
4. Locate and double-click the file Uninst.exe. This will start the wizard.
5. Click Next to scan, Yes, to confirm that you want to uninstall the update
regardless of what other software it might affect.
6. Allow it to finish

NB change the KB842773 in " %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallKB842773$\spuninst " to match the
update you wish to uninstall.
