Hi Folks.

I have a problem with the WindowsUpdate. I opened Internet-Explorer and go
to Windows-Update. It opened
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...ult.aspx?ln=en

and I see

Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software...

Depending on your connection speed, this might take a minute. During
this time, you may receive one or more security warnings. Review each
security warning to ensure that the content is signed by Microsoft,
and then click Install or Yes to install the software.

and then it is over. No Errormessage, no further selection, it's finish. I
only can close the window.

Does anyone have an idea, what's the problem?
Thx.

Hi, everyone,
I have the same problem using the update servive. I also have performed a
re-installation of Windows XP. One extra problem now though, is that my
Recycle Bin has disappeared. The icon is still there but I cannot open it; -I
just keep getting error messages.
When I try to load SP2 from a disc I get a setup error message indicating
that AST1 file is corrupt or damaged and this even after a full
re-installation of XP.
Can anyone please help? I have not received any reply from Microsoft in over
a week.

Hi

You could try the steps in this post to try to get WU to work:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm...TNGP14.phx.gbl

If nothing there worked, try the steps in this post:

http://groups.google.com/groups?selm...tngp13.phx.gbl

If that didn't work either, and you have Windows XP SP2 installed,
check that the WuWebControlClass is enabled in Internet Explorer:
http://groups.google.com/groups?thre...0microsoft.com

Here are some more steps you can try if the above was of no help:

"Software update incomplete" error message when you visit the
Windows Update Web site

You cannot install some updates or programs

Windows Update Is Not Installed
