Win xp home-
When I first installed and ran the MS beta version of malicious.........I
had problems/lockups, etc. Managed to resolve, can't remember the solution.
At 0300 Win update auto matically installed updates including the Scan
(thought I was free of it, didn't realize was auto monthly!). Much failed at
that time.
I first noticed my Gator software no longer worked, could not open
ADD/Remove from Control Panel, many shortcuts inabled.
Message is always OLEDLG.dll is not a Windows Valid Win Image and DirCD or
GMT (think this is gator) are listed on taskbar." Check against install.
diskette.
I restored C. but each time same problems-Restore will no longer work.
Do I have damage to Win Registry? (not sure I will understand any
answers=newbie). Can a repair be made?
I think problems were caused by what ever was updated/downloaded or the
beta scan ? I want to unsuscribe to this beta program after problem fixed?

The free Gator. Have used for 6+ years. Lost all my passwords, etc.
Is this problem w/ the Gator software or a damaged registry or?

What I'm trying to do is to get you to be specific on what "free Gator" you're using, and because it's likely from the Gain network, to de-install it and disinfect your system. Period. First, disinfect.

That is, as long as you can get to Safe Mode. Do you know how to reboot your system to Safe Mode?
When your pc is powering up (or you can power off, and power back on after say 20 seconds) --- start tapping the F8 Function key.
Then select Safe Mode --- login --- and there you can run an Antispyware check & fixes, Antivirus run & fixes.

On Bugs & "Gator" spyware --- see http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/Darnit.htm

and http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/data/gator.htm
