After installing the KB855835 patch, the ordinary users (not in
Administrator or Power Users groups) which ordinarily would be prompted
to change their password (due to expiry, forced change by an
administrator or their own change) have problems logging in and they're
told that their accounts are locked out. Checking Active Directory
Users and Computers doesn't show a locking.
After an Administrator user for that machine logs in, the user is again
permitted to log in, but *with the old password*.
After the first occurrence, the users are afflicted by the problem
daily. In some cases, this intermittently affects their trusted
connections to database servers and shared resources.
As the patch is already distributed to 200+ workstations, we have an
increasing problem which is affecting us seriously, so any leads to
solve the issue will be welcome.
Affected workstations are Windows 2000 (SP3 & 4) and Windows XP (SP1),
the DCs are Windows 2000 (and they have not the patches installed yet).
