Problems after installing updates

On 04/13/05 I installed the following updates:

MS Windows Installer 3.1
KB890859
KB893086
KB890923
KB890830
KB893066

After installing my computer would not shut down. Would stall at saving
your settings. When online IE would freeze. If I go to a site it would just
stop loading if I tried clicking refresh or stop I would just get the hour
glass. Task manager shows IE not responding.

Could not uninstall any of the updates they were not listed in the uninstall
window. I restored my computer back to another date worked just fine.

I went and reinstalled updates and again I am having the same problems
except I can shut down my pc sometimes. My work around for now is to add the
important sites I need to see to the trusted sites and set the pop up blocker
to low. (Very scary) It does not do this with my homepage. And it is not
just a certain site. One time I can go to a site and then I try to go back
to it later and bingo. Back where I started.

I don't know which update is causing the problem. Any suggestions would be
helpful. I have never had this type of problem before.

I found the answer. I restored my pc back to 04/12 and then added each
update one at a time. The Windows Installer 3.1 was the issue. When I
looked to see more info on this update I found that it was not intended for
XP home.

I am back in business.
