Problems after latest Update

After the last update on Friday, I am having major problems. The text on the
screen is so large it doesn't fit into the windows. This problem is in
PayPal, Google searchs, this forum, MS page for clipart, Photobucket, Yahoo
groups, Picturetrail. Is there something I can do? Will removing the updates
help? there were 4 installed. HELP!

I am on a HP Pavilion running Windows XP.

The strange thing, to me, is that even email that include postings to my
Yahoo group have the oversized text in the postings (but not the email
itself). Just filling out this form, the left margin text is out of view and
I have to arrow left to read it. The box for Subject fills nearly the width
of my screen. OH HELP.

Try this....

Right click on the desktop
Click Properties
Click Themes
Choose Windows XP from the drop down (If its not already selected)
Click on the Appearance tab and make sure Font Size is set to "Normal"

If that doesn't do it try this...

Right click on desktop
Click the Settings Tab
verify if the Screen Resolution is set to a minimum of 1024x768 and
color quality is 16 or 32 bit. (whatever your monitor will handle)

Good Luck,

Trev

Thanks for your suggestion Trevor. I did try that but just in case, tried it
again. The size of the text is beyond what changes with resolution. The
letters are 3/4 of an inch tall, even on the 1024x768 resolution.

Dear Noble - I am on a DELL W/ XP as a running program.

I believe I can solve your problem of font size if your mouse has a center
scrolling wheel. Open up to any page that you have the font problem with
then press and hold down the ctrl key while you roll ~towards~ you your mouse
wheel. This should reduce your font. Up away increases size Down decreases
it. Hope this fixes your problem.

This isn't what I consider a font problem. It isn't like changing from
courior 8 to 10, it is more like it has changed from 10 to 50. Nothing I have
done to change resolution or text size makes a difference when the font is
that large.

It's like the basic "form" is the same, the little box where I read text but
inside the box is text about 3/4" tall.

When I printed my mailing label, the bar code for the address sticker was
something like 8" by 2" instead of 3" by 3/4".

I figured out how to read your whole response by clicking reply and it's all
in a size I can read without arrowing over and up and down.

Thanks, Nancy

I have never before considered going to a MAC but I am now. I am tired of not
being able to use my computer productively. I am tired of not being able to
get help. I have contacted Comcast and Hewlett Packard, both worked with me
until we could see that "they" weren't the problem.

I have uninstalled the last 4 automatic updates that came on Friday. It
hasn't fixed the problem. While reading (and reading and reading) yesterday I
discovered that HP had a download that I should have done BEFORE SP2 so that
the system restore would work. Of course I didn't and it doesn't.

I guess I am just plain old tired......

This is not a text size problem. It isn't like the font changed from 8 to 10.
It is like the font changed from 8 to 50.

My last suggestion would be to download the latest video drivers for
your video card and then FIRST...uninstall the existing one.
Then reboot. Then install the latest video driver. I think that will
fix it once and for all. The update probably modified your video
driver to the wrong one.

Good Luck,

Trev

Trev, how do I know what drivers are for my video card? and do I just go to
uninstall programs? How do I get the new driver for my video card without the
old one?
