Problems after reinstall

I just reinstalled Vista and now windows update and my sound has stopped
working. I have an intel motherboard with the Sigmatel audio, in device
manager the sound card is there and says it is working properly but sound
says no no devices installed, when I try to renistall the driver it does not
install and Windows Update is the same thing, it is not downloanding and
seems to be in a loop.

I'm really frustrated so any help would be very much appreciated.
