I have 2 problems after upgrading our SBS 2003 std to SP1. I followed the
instructions at www.smallbizserver.net . sbsSP1 reported this error : Component Name: Server Configuration Version: NA Installation Status: Failure Error Message: MSDE 2000 Service Pack 4 did not install. For additional instructions, see the SQL Server 2000 Service Pack Web site at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=46241. My second problem is logging into server using RWW "connect to server desktops ." If I try to : "Log on to or resume the console session of the remote computer" the server reboots after a "bluescreen" If I log on via RWW to the server without resuming a session , everything is OK. If I connect via VPN and connects to external server desktop everything is OK. Anyone can help ? Thanks BJ |

Hello BJ,
Thank you for posting in the SBS newsgroup. Also, many thanks for Steven's great input. According to your description, I understand that you have two problems after upgrading your SBS 2003 Standard Server to SBS 2003 SP1. If I have misunderstood your concern, please don't hesitate to let me know. For better resolve these issues, we will focus on troubleshoot the first issue at initial response, after it resolved, we will continue to troubleshoot the last issue. Tanks for your understanding. Before we go further, please help me confirm if this is the exact scenario as listed below: 1. When performing the original SBS Integrated setup, did you chose to install the WSS part to a different drive other than the C drive? Did you move the Companyweb Contents DB and configuration DB to a different drive by using the steps outlined in "Moving Data Folders for Windows Small Business Server 2003 - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../movedata.mspx "? 2. After the installation of SBS SP1, did the Companyweb still work though you received some error during the upgrade? 3. Did you remove Companyweb by following "829114 How to remove and how to install the Windows Small Business Server 2003 SharePoint Services Companyweb Web site - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829114"? 4. However, when trying to do the re-installation of Companyweb, did you were promoted for the CD3? Did the System accept it after you inserted the CD3? Then, please help me collect the following information: Please export the following registry keys and attach them into your reply: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\ In addition, send me the updated log files: - C:\WINDOWS\KB885918.log - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Integration\Windows Small Business Server 2003\Logs\*.* - C:\WINDOWS\sqlsp.log - C:\WINDOWS\sqlstp.log I'm looking forward to your update. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know. I am always happy to be of further assistance. Thank you for your response. 1. I have never moved the sharepoint service to another drive or location .. ( we only use the C: drive ) I have installed "Windows sharepoint services 2.0 Norwegian template pack " without altering the orginal installation . 2. Companyweb worked ok after SBS SP1 upgrade and have always been fine. 3. I have not removed Sharepoint services 4 And of coarse not reinstalled However, I have twice restored the entire SBS installation including all data from a backup ( USB/FIREWIRE external disk )by following exactly instructions for restoring the SBS . The reason for this was diskfailure . Hello BJ,
Thanks for your e-mailing me the log files. Thanks for helping me out . I have one problem reinstalling the Sharepoint service companyweb. I'm prompted for SBS Disk 3 and when I insert my disk 3 I get an error msg saying I have to use a disk 3 with SBS SP1 on it !! Well I only have the original disk 3 ( the one valid until nov 25 ) What do I do now ? We have no Companyweb ! No, I was advised by Nathan to remove and re-install SharePoint services, but re-installing wont work because the installprogram asks for CD3 with SP1 on it !!! I have only the old CD3 ! And here I am without sharepoint services ;-( and a SP1 that wont install sql SP4 ......... BJ "Steven Banks [SBS MVP]" <> wrote in message news:%... > Bjorn, > > Sorry to leave you hanging.
