Consistent problem on 3 XP computers after installing Service Pack 3 and the
most recent security update as follows:

The following updates were downloaded but not installed:
Security Update for WinXP with Windows Media Format Runtime 9.5 & 11
MS Net Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.2.0
Security Update for IE7 for WinXP
Security update for WinXP KB958644
And more....

Are these possibly showing up as failed installations because of service
pack 3 being installed? If so, how do you clear the downloaded list?

Thanks

CrystalBall© sez...

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

Otherwise...

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada. Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...spx?gprid=1173 | select "Windows
XP" then select "Windows XP Service Pack 3"

See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

First, try registering wups2.dll.
If no joy, then install the latest Version of the Windows Update Agent.
