Power off and reseat the mouse connector
Once logged in, press the Windows key and then use the arrow and Enter keys
to navigate,
Check for damaged/missing system files:
Start/Run
Type "sfc /scannow" ENTER
Follow the prompts and have the Windows XP CD available.
Then follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist:
