Problems after SP2 Uninstall

Last night, I attempted to install the Service Pack 2, but had to cancel
installation after waiting an hour and a half. When I turned on the computer
this morning, there was a message saying that the incomplete installation had
made my system unstable, and I needed to uninstall SP2. When I uninstalled
SP2, I was no longer able to use my mouse -- it doesn't work at all. Is
there any way I can get by this, to try to install SP2 again?

Power off and reseat the mouse connector

Once logged in, press the Windows key and then use the arrow and Enter keys
to navigate,
Check for damaged/missing system files:
Start/Run
Type "sfc /scannow" ENTER
Follow the prompts and have the Windows XP CD available.
