Problems after upgrade from WM7.5 to WLM8.1

I recently had to upgrade from Windows Messenger 7.5 to Windows Live
Messenger 8.1. I ran the upgrade on my Terminal Server and everything seemed
to go well. However after the upgrade some users display names are being
saved after changing them in the Options menu, while others are pulling the
first name from the registered account information. If i change the display
name of the ones that just use the default to something else, they just
revert back to the name stored in the registered account information setup.
I don't see any reason why some of them are saving the changes made to the
display name in the options menu while others are reverting back. Is there a
way I can get all of my WLM clients to use the Display Name set in
WLM->Options?
