For a couple of days now I've been having problems with IE8. Every now and
then I get the following error

Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0;
GTB6.5; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729;
Media Center PC 6.0; Media Center PC 5.0; SLCC1; Tablet PC 2.0)
Timestamp: Wed, 2 Jun 2010 16:11:08 UTC

Message: 'null' is null or not an object
Line: 3
Char: 991
Code: 0
URI:
http://static.bbc.co.uk/frameworks/b...ipt/blq_core.j
s

Does anyone have any idea whats causing it or how to fix it? I've run a
virus scan thinking this might be whats causing these issues but that came
back showing no problems.

See the section entitled "Problem: Overlong headers result in HTTP/4xx or
HTTP/5xx errors..." (and the related script) towards the very bottom of this
page: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp

Do you employ any filtering of web content? Ad-blockers, IE8's
InPrivate Filtering, anti-malware that include URL blocking, using a
'hosts' file to block ad or malicious sites, etc. If you filter out
content then you can also filter out scripts that define objects that
another script expects to have been defined. For example, if you filter
out Google's crap (like their analytics and other tracking sites) and
because many sites use Google's services for tracking, you end up
blocking a script that defines objects that another script expects to be
defined. Blocking ads and other content can result in script errors.
