Problems installing Bit Locker + EFS update (error code 80070643)

I am having a lot of trouble installing the Bit Locker + EFS update. I am
using Windows Vista Ultimate and the error code I get after the update
installs to about 95% is 80070643, the ose service is started and set to
manual startup. However as this update is not for Microsoft Office I don't
understand why I am getting this error.

I have exactly the situation you described, and have not found a solution to
this. I have asked MS support, but not received any answer ...... yet. Did
you find a solution?

What makes you think that this code applies only to Microsoft Office?

BTW it is highly likely that the update's install log shows a more significant code
or message before this code was reported finally. In any case, as always,
the context of the code in the log is more useful than just the code itself.

I have been trying to find the log you describe, as I really would like to
get rid of this problem. What is the name of the file and in what folder will
I find it?

Well I have found that if you uninstall Office 2007 you are able to
successfully install this update, and then reinstall Office. Bit of a rubbish
solution but until the reason for this problem is found it is the only thing
I have found to work. BTW, the reason I was looking at Office as the culprit
as the error refers to the ose service, which apparently is related to Office.
