I am have been unable to install Windows Vista X86. I have successfully
installed Windows Vista X64. I just have had network problems due to no
drivers being available for much of my hardware, and if there is one
available they have not been signed and will not install. So I decided to
install Windows Vista X86.
The problems with Windows X86 is that I cannot get it to install. I
initially downloaded the install disk and burned it to DVD. Every time I try
a new install it goes past the first screen which asked about language and
key boards. I click next and then it says please wait and that is it. After
about 15 minutes I get the blue screen of death. This happened with the
Microsoft disk and the ones I burned, all at 2x speed and past the checksum.
This made no difference. I am trying to install on a 80 gigabyte western
digitial 7200rpm hard drive. I have 4 gigabytes of ram, a XFX Geforce 6200
Nvidia graphics card with 512 megabytes of DDR Ram. A AMD Athlon AMD 64 X2
+3800 process, on an Abit AV8 motherboard. I have tired to upgrade a Windows
XP Pro and it goes all the way through and on reboot that is when I get the
blue screen. I would use the X64 if I could get the Network to work. The NIC
card is on the mother board but did try several other Linksys 10/100 just
cannot seem to find a driver that works. The onboard NIC shows it is working
just cannot ping anything including the router which works fine in Windows
XP. I am totally at a lose.
If anyone has any ideas it would greatly appreciated.
