problems with keyboard in Windows mail

Since installing SP 1, I've had problems responding to or creating email.
Seems like the letters typed on the keyboard don't always show up in the
window. If you wait a few seconds or longer and keep hitting the same key,
it will eventually respond. However, it is like typing in molases.

Anyone know why?
