I reformatted my computer a couple of days ago and I've been having problems
with MSN Messenger / Live Messenger ever since..

The Live Messenger downloaded and installed perfectly fine onto my computer
but when I tried to open the messenger, my entire computer started lagging.

It's been the same ever since. Everytime I click on Live Messenger to open
it, it lags the whole computer down and I have to use Task Manager to close
it. . .

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it many, many times..

I also tried with MSN Messenger 7.5 just in case it was just the Live
Messenger I was having problems with, but the exact same things occured.

It baffles me because I have no idea what's wrong .. I don't get an error
message or anything, it just lags my computer down and freezes everything.

It's especially weird since it worked perfectly fine until I reformatted my
computer.

Everything else, other messengers and other programs, work perfectly fine.

Can someone help? I have no idea what's going on..since I dont get an error
message or anything..there's nothing I can refer to..;;

Thank you.

run a anti virus full scan

While sipping a glass of green tea, I read that elisa wrote in

Hi Elisa,

I had this problem and still do, but I think I found out the source, it is
not MSN Messenger. For me it was my web cam. When I formatted my PC, and
updated my computer, excluding the drivers. Then installed MSN Messenger
Live.

It was launching perfectly, and everytime I update a driver it launch pretty
good; until I installed the driver for my webcam. It started lagging for
about half a minute before it launches. Then during coversations it hangs
for a while, to the point I had to use the Task Manager to close Messenger
Live all together.

I don't know why did this happen, the cam is fine, and there is nothing
wrong with the installed driver, but it seems that the guys down in MS are
not verifying their codes, and as such, there is some overlapping of
commands. Well, I wouldn't know, but I hope somebody could figure out how to
solve it.
