I tried to install the microsoft webcam VX-3000 and it said my comp is not
compatiable with the program so i had to download a program from microsoft to
install the cam, well when i open the webcam up i get a picture but when i
try to use it with yahoo messenger i keep getting a message that says "webcam
not connected", i have uninstalled it and re-installed it 6 times i tried to
put it in other USB ports and get the same message. I can take pics and make
videos on it i just can't use it on yahoo messenger and i don't understand
why. I am using Windows Vista-Home premium, 32-bit operating sysytem. It was
workin fine when i 1st installed it and now it won't let anyone view my cam,
i have even tried to turn off my firewalls but that didn't help either, i
don't know what to do. Does anyone have any information that will help??
Thanks

blondey35,

Have your webcam settings been changed by you or some program? Have you
checked the Yahoo Messenger "Preferences" or "Options" settings to determine
if you are allowing others to view your webcam? Have you restricted viewing
your webcam only to those names you have entered in the Yahoo Messenger
settings? Your webcam should work properly and be available for view by
others if your settings are correct.

Do the settings in your antivirus or security suite software restrict
the sending of images over the internet? Are you running any Norton/Symantec
or McAfee security applications?

Also, I noticed in your post that you stated you had turned off your
"firewalls". I hope you are not running more than one firewall at the same
time as it can cause some serious conflicts.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Have a nice day.

C.B.

Thanks for the info CB but i found out what was wrong with the cam, there was
a chat room that i had logged onto and i had disabled my webcam so that the
ppl in the chat room couldn't see me, well by doing that it had blocked the
web cam from yahoo also, i don't know how or why but it did. Cause i went
back on to the chat site and logged in and let my cam be shown and then after
like 3 minutes i logged back out of the chat room and rebooted the computer
and logged back into yahoo messenger and the cam works fine now.
