Problems with Microsoft Update

Hello, I'm having troubles updating my computer.

When I run the Microsoft Update Program from the Start Menu, it opens my IE
Window and says "The page cannot be found", it´s strange because in my laptop
it works fine.

I´ve Windows XP Professional with SP3. Could you help me please??

And the version of Windows/IE installed on the laptop is ?

Try another Manual update attempt. If/when it fails, please post the
*last* 50 or so lines of the WindowsUpdate.log into your reply, Charly:

You started the update process from within Windows Defender, correct ?
Something is blocking communication from your system to the server:

The latest version of the Windows Update Agent is installed:

Which firewall is being used ? Suggest you go back upwards in the WU.log
and see when the WUA was installed, please.

I have a similair problem - Autoupdate works, but I can't get to the site or
many tech sites. I received a new error today "page cannot be viewed because
the server it resides in does not respond". A worm attacked me last week and
has caused havoc - can't restore, or do much in Safe Mode,etc., up-date
Spyydoctor is also a no go. And it left me the nasty "go.google" redirect.
Ugh.

infection.

I had the same problem on one of my three PC's. Are you running zone alarm?
On the one PC where the updates were installed I could not access internet
via IE. When I shut down zone alarm, all was ok. The other two PC's on
which I did not run the windows updates were fine. So, it appears the
updates are not compatible with ZA. I ended up uninstalling the updates so I
could run ZA.

Same issue occurred with fixes back in July and Aug and ZA had to create a
fix. I tried to report this to ZA but it appears you have to call it in and
last time I was charged for doing this, so I will wait until they figure it
out!

Hello to all, I've solved my problem, as someone else commented it was a
hijack to my system, it was redirecting the Microsoft Update ip address to
MSN.com

I downloaded a software called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and I installed it
on my desk, it scanned my system showing a malware, it was removed and I
could connect to Windows Update again.
