Problems with my Inspiron 1520 after upgrading from Basic to Ultim

Hello I recently updated my laptop from Vista Basic to Ultimate and I am
experiencing a few problems. I have never had any problems with Basic
whatsoever. Firstly, the Dreamscene Add-On is nice but sometimes doesn't
work properly. The background goes white and a notification appears on the
tray. I also downloaded Microsoft Office 2007 for Enterprise off of my
school site. I do not know if this may have to do with the problems, but
it's just an added tidbit. By the way Office 2007 is incredible. Second
problem: Today I put my laptop into power-saving mode (hibernation) and for
the first time, my laptop froze when I pulled the screen back up. A black
background was all there was. The CPU was still running, but the HD was
inactive (my Inspiron has an indicator whenever my HD is working). Third
problem: Is it natural for my laptop to run slower now that I upgraded to
Ultimate? I mean start up, shut down, and a few of the programs are
significantly slower now that I have this new OS. If anyone can help me with
my troubles, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

- Laptop Specs -
Core 2 Duo 1.5 GHz
2 GB Memory
120 GB HD

I might have an idea to why my laptop freezes whenever I try to wake it from
power-saving mode. Whenever I have a wireless internet connection and set it
to hibernate and try to turn it back on it freezes, but when there's no
internet connection it turns back on with no problems. I had no problems
with Vista Basic whenever I turned my laptop back on from hibernation, why's
Vista Ultimate suddenly causing all this trouble? Can anyone help please?
Thanks.
