For some reason my PC will not allow me to save word processed documents.

I am using WordPro and when I try to save I get a message:-

" Cannot write to directory C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents."

I have recently had a windows update and wonder if it is the cause.I have
always been able to save before and can save spreadsheets

Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I did a windows xp update on 3/1/05. My partner
did the update weeks earlier. Since then we have not been able to save any
word 2000 files to a third networked computer(where we both normally save our
files). We can both first ssave them to our own computer and then save them
to the third networked computer, but cannot save them FIRST to the networked
computer. Unfortunately, windows xp update installed 12 files on 3/1 and I
don't know which one is causing the problem, but it is defintely from one of
them. Origianlly only my partner had this problem. My computer was fine.
When I did the update, I now also have the problem. I can't find anyone at
microsoft to help, what else is new.

It is caused by the windows update. I solved my similar problem by deleted
the security update KB885250. Go to control panel, add or remove programs,
windows xp updates and remove that file and it should solve the problem
