problems signing in windows live messenger 8.0.0812.00

I get a error report windows has experienced an error and needs to close ,
sorry for the inconvience; I hit the error report and lose my messenger ;
over and over again;; the only way I can get in to my messenger is leaving
the error report message up , signing in to my earthlink mailbox first ;then
i can hit the sign in messenger and it signs in; and i can use most of the
features, except using the present box to downlad the themepacks . I have
been trying to reinstall, clearing cache,alot of other things along withthe
help desk advise; and the problem still is happening. Can anyone help?
