Problems since installing Office XP SP3

Ever since I installed SP 3 for Office XP, I have had trouble synchronizing
my Outlook items with my Pocket PC. I get the "Attention Required" message.
When I click on the "Attention Required" link, I get this message: "Items
of one or more information types can not be synchronized. Disconnect and
reconnect your device. To view all error messages and dialog boxes that
require your input, you must connect to this computer via infrared or
serial/USB cable."

I can temporarily solve the problem by renaming mapi32.dll to mapi32.old and
then repairing or reinstalling Outlook. This allows me to synchronize one
time and then the problem occurs again.

I have checked my .pst file and it is fine, not corrupted. I have
completely uninstalled and reinstalled both Outlook and ActiveSync. I have
tried replacing oleaut32.dll with an older version as some people have
suggested.

I tried searching for Outstore.log and Wcesmgr.log at the suggestion of
ViewSonic support. Neither of these files existed. I tried removing all
the color labels that I had applied to some calendar items.

Can anyone help me? Thanks so much.

Lis B.

Hi,
Are you using ActiveSync 3.7.1? Also, did you try reinstalling ActiveSync
after installing SP3?

Hi. Yes, I'm using ActiveSync 3.7.1 and yes, I tried both reinstalling
Outlook and ActiveSync after installing SP3. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Not that it's any help, but this problem apparently isn't
unique. I have the same problem following reinstallation
of Office XP, and have followed all the same procedures
you have without success.

So it's not just your installation.

Have you contacted the OEM of your PC to see what they recommend?

Yes, I did that too. They couldn't figure it out. I've decided to try
installing Outlook 2003 and see if that solves the problem.
