Well at least it's running, the MFT can be corrupted from a variety of
reasons including infections but may also be an early symptom of an impending
drive failure. The first thing you should do is backup all your important
data in case it ceases to run at all. Next, assuming you are running XP, try
performing a system restore to roll the system state data back to a time to
when a copy of the MFT (NTFS MFTmirror) or an uuncorrupted MFT was available.
If this fails you may have to (assuming you have backed up first as above)
perform a full reformat and reinstall of the operating system.
