problems with update with win XP SP3

I tried to download SP 3 as I was told by the microsoft update site.
Initially I got Error Code: 0x8007058D . I did some searching on this site,
found that people had similar error when installing SP 2 ( I am installing
SP3. SP2 had come with the windows XP CD when bought by me) So I shut off my
Norton antivirus, PC tools antispyware, my zone alarm. This time my update
went smoothly. But now whenever I restart my computer I get the following 2
eror messages.
1. The procedute entry point "apsGetInterfaceCount " could not be located in
the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll.
2. The procedure entry point "apsIntialize" could not be located in the
dynamic link library wlanapi.dll.

When I click OK these message boxes disappear. My windows loads properly.
That is not a problem, But these message boxes are irritating. Also it took
me over 5 hrs to load the SP3. Don't tell me that I need to uninstall SP3,
and reload it again.

Hm, could please check the file version of the wlanapi.dll placed
in the \Windows\System32 folder? Should be 5.1.2600.5512 after SP3
beeing installed.

You've set up a WLAN connection, right?
If true, are you using Windows to configure and establish the WLAN
connection or a utility which came with the WLAN hardware/driver?
What's the exact name and model of the WLAN hardware and what's the
driver version you are using right now (check via Device Manager)?

I checked the file version. I am copying and pasting the version as it is.
5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-0852)

I have a WAN connection and I am using D link driver which came with it. Its
a D Link router that is conncted to my D Link ASDL splitter and there is a
USB connector that receives the wireless signals . The driver details are D
link Airplus G DWL-G 122 Wireless USB Adapter(rev .C)#5.

I have the same exact problem and I am trying to find a source for this fix.
I have
a DWL-G122b and it is working fine Its the two error flags that make it
annoying. called d- Link twice and e-mailed them but got no satisfaction.
Hope someone is smart enough to resolve this problem.

Okay, that's the one coming with SP3.

Okay, you may want to look for a more actual driver.

Hm, can't find revC on the D-Link support pages. You may want
to try for yourself: http://support.dlink.com/downloads/

Are you using the D-Link tool to configure your WLAN connection
or are you using the Zero Configuration Tool included in Windows?

Well, at least two of the ones having the issue are using the almost
same hardware.
Have you tried (re)installing the driver for you DWL-G112b?

Although it's dated June 2005, it may help just to reinstall the driver.

In case it doesn't help:
Are you using the D-Link conifiguration tool to establish and manage
your WLAN connection or are you using the Zero Configuration Tool
included in Windows?

Thanks Freudi for your time. I am using the D link configuration tool. But I
have not done any configuration. I am just using the default setting. I'll
try reinstalling the driver. I have the CD, i'll do it from there. Also i
have just loaded "Driver genius professional edition" yesterday. Let me
register it and I 'll see if I can find any latest drivers. i'll let you know
in a day or two what happens.

Hm, I would recommend downloading the latest driver available on the
vendor's homepage though. Anyway, in case (re)installing the (latest)
driver doesn't resolve the -ehm- issue, you may want to enable the
Zero Configuration in Windows and use that one to establish and configure
your WLAN configuration.

I have XP and had the same problem after installing SP3. I installed
DLink wireless router at one time but am not now using it so I jus
uninstalled the adapter. The two errors on startup no longer appear.
If I needed the DLink I would reinstall it but have not tried that. Th
reinstallation might resolve the problem so you could try to uninstal
and reinstall any DLink software you require or just uninstall if yo
don't need it as in my case
