Hi all

Today I have installed the new version of Messenger because I was tol
to do so, by Microsoft, if I did not upgrade to the latest version coul
not use Messenger!

I was avoiding moving to the new version because I did the update abou
2 months ago and could not use Messenger anymore. At that time I wa
able to download the old version and I was happy again...bu
now.....After starting my pc WLM will open and sign in automatically
and works fine, I can check e-mail in outlook, read documents in Offic
and run any program until...I open my Internet Browser (IE)...as soon a
I do that I get a pop up "*Windows Live Communications Platform ha
stopped working*. -A problem caused the program to stop workin
correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solutio
is available.-

I'm still waiting for a notification since the first time I had thi
problem:confused

Then I get another message at the bottom of my screeen: "*Windows Liv
Communications Platform was closed.*- To help protect your computer
Data Execution Prevention has closed Windows Live Communication
Platform. Click here to learn more."

I click but haven't been able to learn anything yet!!:

By the way, the same thing happens if I exit WLM, run IE (that work
without problems) and then start WLM. Seems to me that those two don'
like each other:

Can anyone please help? I use Messenger a lot to communicate wit
family overseas and really need it

Details about my system

HP Pavilion laptop dv650
Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) Service Pack 2
Windows Live Messenger Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.726
Internet Explorer 8 Version 8.0.6001.18813I
Trend Micro Internet Security pro (2009

Thanks in advanc
Cheer

Hi

I downloaded the new verion of WLM last week after trying to sign into the
old version and it not working and saying for messenger to continue working I
had to download the new version.

At first everything was fine and then the next time I tried to use it, it
wouldn't work, it starts to sign in but then says 'Signing in to WLM failed
because the service is temporarily unavailable.......

Then theres an error code 80048820.

Also now on the internet when trying to just sign in to emails, or anything
that requires sign in like facebook or ebay.
The web page then goes to a page saying There is a problem with this
websites security certificate. The security certificate presented by this
website has expired or is not yet valid. Security certificate problems may
indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.
We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.
then theres a shield icon with tick saying click here to close this webpage
and another with a cross continue tothis website (not recommended).

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the new live messenger but it
has only just started happening as messenger went wrong.

It is really frustrating now, does anybody know why this is happening and
how to get things working again.

I'm having the exact same problem...seems MSN doesn't care anymore about the
quality of their products and forcing everyone to use a faulty product. I
guess what their saying is we should all dump MSN and switch to Yahoo and
skype.
