We (used to) have a Novell server (which means I am a Novell administrator,
Have worked with a windows network before, but never set up an Active
Directory from scratch.
We are going to use some software that makes it necessary to have a windows
network, so....

I am setting up the first Windows Server 2003 R2.
After installing the software and SP2, I got to the screen Manage your
Server
(In Dutch: "Uw Server beheren". The English terms I have to translate from
Dutch, so forgive me if the translations are a wee bit off)

My network setup:
1 Novell server: 192.168.0.250
1 adsl router (this is the only gateway in this subnet): 192.168.0.1

Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers: 192.168.0.5 and 192.168.0.6

LAN2:

DNS Servers: 192.168.0.5 and 192.168.0.6

Now I run the

Hello Peter-Paul Jansen,

If the server has two NIC's doesn't mean that you can use 2 ip addresses
from the same LAN. Either use some teaming software to combine the NIC's
to one virtual or use only one of them with the needed ip configuration.
Especially on a Domain controller you should only use one ip address and
also not multihome(2 NIC's in different LAN's) it.

Best regards
