Problems With Windows Update HighMAT Support in CD Writing Wizard

Hello,

For months now I have noticed that with multiple WinXP SP2 PCs (most just
freshly installed or updated to SP2), I cannot smoothly get the Windows
Update for HighMat Support.

1) The automated Windows Update just hangs after less than 1MB - it may
eventually finish but it is WAY TOO SLOW for my broadband connection - other
times it just fails. Restarting it, it goes to where it left off before and
then just hangs, rarely completing.

2) I also try to download it manually
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/i...Wizard_enu.exe). The file downloads partially then just hangs.

Is there something wrong with this file on Microsoft's web site?

Hi Al, I just downloaded the file now without problems. The only thing I can
suggest that you clear out your temporary internet files and try again. Also
check in the Softwaredistribution folder to see if it's in there under
downloads as it might be corrupted.

Thank you for your response Kaylene!

If I had this problem with a SINGLE PC and only with WINDOWS UPDATE, your
advise would be spot on.

However, I am having this problem with MULTIPLE PCs (at least 6) and with
BOTH WINDOWS UPDATE AND DOWNLOADING THE FILE MANUALLY (unrelated to temporary
internet files and the software distribution folder).

Would you (or anyone else) have any other ideas?
