After I downloaded a Microsoft recommended upgrade on April 13th my Windows
XP file structure became difficult to access. I could not open a file from
WORD and from My Computer I could not expand the folders & file tree.
Although I could access a file by first clicking on a folder to open it and
continueing to do so until I reached a desired file. I could then open the
file and its associated program by clicking on it. But I cannot access a file
from a program.

Has anyone eles encountered this and found a solution?

Can anyone tell me how to identify the MS upgrade that caused this and how I
can uninstall it?

I have never done this before, I am a bit of a nocice with computer/software
workings.

Thanks is advance for any guidance rendered.

I've had exactly the same problem. Now, how do we uninstall the April 12 /
13 updates?

I finally figured out how to remove the offending updates. Go to control
panel; add remove / programs; be sure to click on the "show updates" box;
proceed to remove that last batch of updates.

Thank you RCS, I will save this suggestion and use it if necessay. But now my
file structure seems to be working normally without me taking any action.
Perhaps the upgrade needed time to settle in and work itself out.

I'll post again if anything else crops up.
