Probs with boot up & disc space

Hi peeps i'm really hoping someone can help me. I have a laptop with
Vista home premium. Basically i have noticed a couple of problems that
have started over the last few weeks. The first one being when i boot
the comp up the loading screen takes a long time to appear then when it
does it gets stuck for ages or sometimes it wont load up so i restart &
get a message saying 1- Launch startup repair 2- Start windows
normally.
The second prob if i manage to get past this screen is when the desktop
screen has loaded up straight away i get a message sayin low disc space
& it could be something like 20mb so i restart again then it will go up
to about 40mb so i restart again until eventually it's around a gig
which is about right as i have lots of audio sample packs on my c drive.
Please can someone help me out as i have run numerous virus scans using
avg, spybot, windows defender, disc cleanup, ccleaner & reg cure. I
really dont know what else to do so any help would be much appreciated.
