What procedures do I physically utilize to changeover my operating system
from WIndows Me to Windows XP. Do I have to refomat the hard drive and load
the new operating system? Should I backup all my word, excel and other
personal filess? Can I just load the new OS from the "run" line?

I recently upgraded a computer from ME to XP. Insert the CD,Choose UPGRADE
and follow the directions. Some of your add on programs will have to be
re-installed such as McAfee Antivirus. If your Office programs are Office
2000 or newer they will be migrated automatically upon completion of the
upgrade.

To install items from Windows Update, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure. CaptainJack Windows Update 2 04-15-2004 01:11 PM
