I use to know how to find out what programs/processes were running.

right click task bar, open TaskManager.

There are more involved solutions, but that's the quick answer.

Bill,
If you are a keyboard man, as opposed to "mouseman", just press
simultaneously Shift+Ctrl+Esc and you'll be right there.
