I purchased an upgrade package from Dell for upgrading to Vista from XP. When
I activated, I got the message "The product key you typed is already in use".
I think this is becuase I briefly used it (few days) and had to swap out the
computer underwarranty. Since Dell was swapping the computer out, they
loaded an OEM version of Vista on the laptop and told me I could use the
upgrade disk on another computer (which is what I was doing) when I got this
message. I also purchased a 64 bit version which I have chosen to not use due
to some gaming issues ( I am a gamer at heart).

I hope someone at MS can assist me, as I love Vista on my laptop and on this
desktop. By checking to see the product key is not in use, I am sure it can
simply be rest or something.

The product key is in use, just by you. It's easy to fix, though. Just call
Microsoft via the "Activate by Phone" option when activating Vista. They
will get you back up and running in about 5 minutes with no problems.
