I have not updated or awhile becasue I was on dial up for the past few
months. now that I have high speed again, I went to update. My computer was
scanned for authenticty and came back saying it was not valid. I tried
support and it says I need to pay for support...So here I am.

I purchased XP PRo full version two years ago at Staples. I have a valid
key..but it is not my original key. i had to pay $10 for a new one becasue I
lost the XP folder with the key on the back of it.

What am I supposed to do? Buy another $200 Xp Pro? I can't get any updates.
They sure have changed their site in the past two months. Any ideas? Thanks

You need to find the Product Key that originally
came with the Windows XP CD you purchased
from Staples, then perform a "Repair Install"
using the proper Windows XP CD and Product
Key. Otherwise, you'll need to purchase another
"Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and perform a "Repair Install" using the new
Windows XP Pro CD and the Product Key that
comes with it.
