Program access problem after installing Service Pack 2

After installing XP SP2, I can boot up to my desktop and I can move my cursor
around the desktop with my mouse, but when I click on buttons/icons, nothing
happens. Cannot access buttons/icons via keyboard either. Help!!!!!!!!!
