After downloading an update to Windows 2000, every few minutes I get a
"Program Error" message box that says: WinMgmt.exe has generated errors and
will be closed by windows...etc.
How do I get rid of it?

cause
========
%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem\Repository file corrupt.

1. before we start, please back up all the file in
%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem\Repository folder. Sometime the registry will fail
to rebuild the registry key, please ensure back up this folder.

2. click start--run--service.msc.
3. stop "Windows Management Instrumentation" service.
4. delete all the file in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem\Repository folder.

5. click start--run--service.msc.
6. start "Windows Management Instrumentation" service.

Then the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM\A utorecover MOFs
would be rebuild and the issue can be resolved.

applies to

============
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP1, SP2
Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP1, SP2
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP1, SP2
