Hi,
I am trying to install this program, but it keeps telling me that it
is not compatible with Vista. I was adviced that could be because it goes
into the Program Files (x86) folder. I was advised to install the program
into the regular Program File folder, but every time I change the destination
extension the program ended up in the Program File (x86) folder. That could
be because before i am asked about the destination, it installs some support
files first. Then the files may follow the support files. My question is
there a way to change the default folder, to get the programs to be installed
in the regular Program Files folder than the Program Files (x86) folder?
Thank you for your help.
I have Windows Vista(64) Ultimate by the way

If the application is a 32 bit application it will always be installed in
the x86 program files. You cannot install a 32 bit application in the 64 bit
program files. I apologize for answering your question, as I am not a MVP.

Have a nice day.

I guess that makes since, but I am trying to install Autodesk 2006. I finally
somehow got it to install in neither of the folders, intead i got it to
install into its own folder in the C: drive. Yet I still got the program is
incompatible with Vista. I asked this becuase I was told, and I understood
that the x86 program files was for the 64 bit, thats why it didnt work. So I
was adviced to get it to install into the regular program files, and i tried
but it went directly to x86.
But thank you for your responce. Maybe I was sent in the wrong direction,
and now I can probably seek a diferent path to try to solve my problem.

There is no requirement to be an MVP to answer questions here. Anybody
who knows the answer can and should provide it. It's far from true
that only MVPs know answers, and no matter how much any MVP knows, he
doesn't know everything.

Why don't you install the program in XP compatibilty? Right-click on the exe.
for it, select properties, then compatibility
