Program not working since last windows update

On the 21st my computer did an automatic security up date and who knows what
other updates. Any way, after that the program I use to make my web pages
won't upload, or close, it keeps popping up a message to "need to save this
page before publishing" or when I try to close the file or program it will
ask "do you want to save changes?" Even when clicking on "yes" to save it
still does nothing. The only thing left is to use 'Ctrl +alt+delete' to get
out of the program. I have did a systems restore, I have gone and deleted the
updates. I even went as far as deleting the program and reinstalling it.
Still, nothing has changed. I did worry I deleted some important updates off
when deleting some those updates, so since then I have done a complete
microsoft update that took all afternoon to download. Computer seems to be
running great now, but the program is still the same and I can't use it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using windows xp home edition.

Can you use other programs to save documents, e.g. from Word, or Wordpad?

I use HotDog PageWiz software to do my web pages. I don't seem to have any
problems saving, opening, or closing any others (i.e. Works, Microsoft
Publisher, etc)

Maybe reinstalling HotDog may help? I also use HotDog (an older
version), but I do not have any problems.
