I have this freeware 3D model viewer that worked in XP. When I got my new
Vista machine, it worked fine. Then I bought a video card, after install it
doesn't even start. Once when I had to restart in Safe Mode, I tried opening
the program and it worked. So something changed between my stock system and
when I installed the video card that prevents the program from working. I
have tried checking every item under the Properties>Compatability tab and
shutting down some processes in Task Manager but none of that has allowed it
to work in my current configuration. How can I find what blocks this program
from running? Thanks.

Hi, Eric.

Obvious questions: WHICH video card? WHICH freeware 3D model viewer?

Maybe we still can't help you, but we would have a MUCH better chance if we
knew what you know about your computer. Like, make and model of the
computer (or the motherboard/CPU/etc. if you built it yourself). In other
words, what is your "current configuration"? And which video card was it
working with in WinXP?

Ooops, sorry.

eMachines T5226
1MB RAM
Dual Core 3GHz Pentium D

Diamond Stealth X1550 PCI-E

Program: Trainz Object Explorer found here:
http://trainz.luvr.net/projects-view.php?pid=476

In XP, it worked with the built-in to motherboard, a 3D Prophet 4500 and a
Radeon 9200. I am the only user I know of who has this problem and none of
the others can think of why.

Does windows have some type of error log? Something that records when these
errors are made that might have information to help figure this out?

As a test I tried removing the video card and starting without it. Sure
enough, the program works. What changes does a video card make to the system?
Looking for information on where to start figuring out what exactly is
blocking this program.
