program unistall

Hi, I have a problem that I can't uninstall programs. I go to control
panel/program uninstall/and then click on the program I want to uninstall
and nothing happens no buttons at all. Icons for most programs have also
disappeared and now have the windows icon! It used to be OK but not now. I
think it may have been caused by an automatic update as I can't remember
clicking anything myself. Thanks

I lost all sound on my Vista machine after an update.
Restored machine to a save point - voila - problem solved.
Control Panel > Backup and Restore > System Restore
Pick a Date where things were working.
Obviously, you need to be logged on as an administrator.

Or perhaps you can't uninstall because you're not logged on as an
administrator in the first place....
