Program won't start

Hello,
I have been using a program in Vista for over a year that, today,
won't start up with the message...

"FileMaker Pro Runtime has stopped working.
A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows
will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

Suspecting a corrupt file, I uninstalled and reinstalled the program
and still get this message.
Is it possibly a failure of file association? It has been reliable
until now and I don't know where
to start looking. The program is built with Filemaker Pro 5 v.3
Developer and while it is a pre-Vista
program, it has been working reliably on other machines.
Thanks for any ideas,
Bill

Hi,

Have you contacted the program vendor for assistance yet? They are more
likely to know of any issues with their product running in a Vista
environment.

Thanks Roger,
I am checking that as well. I was hoping that the exact language of
the warning window
might trigger someone's idea of the error.

Hi Rick,
I copied some of the exact language of the message into MS support and
results suggest the user needs to update his Vista system as the
message
can appear for several programs including window explorer and media
player.

Hi,

That's a generic first step for anyone getting a non-responsive program.

Has there been anymore on this? We have an application developed wit
Filemaker Pro 6. Originally for WIn95 but it's been working fine on al
O/S up to Windows 7. It's in a runtime format. The installation wen
normally with no warnings but when we click on the executable file w
get the same error "Filemaker Pro Runtime has stopped working".

The program works on Vista machines with other customers and none o
them have gotten any errors except in one instance where we resolved i
by changed the compatibility mode to XP.

This is the first time we've seen this runtime error and I thought i
might be because of Windows security. However, in Vistas control panel
can't see a way to add Filemaker as a accepted program.

HELP!
