Punked

Microsoft just PUNKED all of us. I should have known better than to install
a major update as soon as it came out. From the looks of this newsgroup and
CNN and many of my friends, SP2 was not ready to come out.

No they didn't.
I have installed XP SP2 and all previous updates without any problems at
all; So have *most* users of Windows. (that do install the updates)

Hey, you can always change to linux...... ;-)

yes, i followed all the steps Microsoft said to follow. I understand many
people had no problems, but a lot others did. Microsoft should at least
acknowledge the problem AND TELL PEOPLE about the problems. Instaed,
Microsoft defaults to install its upgrades and we pay the price.

Are you blind? Haven't you been reading these messages? Are you connected
with Microsoft in anyway? That would be the only reason for your obviously
incorrect comment about most users. I say again, SP2 is junk, at least at
this time.

That checklist goes beyond what Microsoft says.

Did you also verify ALL your hardware and software was compatible as
suggested?

Your comment without specifics is worth little more than
scaremongering.
Your comment is false since SP-2 successfully installs on a majority
of computers.
People now need to learn how to properly use the new security features
that they have been complaining have been previously unavailable.

If you have specifics, post them for everybody to benefit,
otherwise...
